Being a Disciple of Christ

What makes us disciples of Jesus Christ? How do we strengthen our discipleship? How do we improve our relationship with our Lord, our Savior, our Redeemer?

I‘ve been reflecting on these questions. Here are three insights I have gained,  Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, October 2021; Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, April 2024 ; and Elder Ulisses Soares Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, April 2023:

1. Walking the Path of Discipleship: Disciples of Jesus Christ walk the path of discipleship by following His teachings and example, keeping His commandments, and honoring the covenants we make with God.

2. Strengthening Our Discipleship: By relying on Jesus Christ, we can avoid contention, love our neighbors, visit those in need, and lift their spirits. Through these actions, we strengthen our discipleship.

3. Improving Our Relationship with Christ: When we promote the peace of the Savior and treat those we encounter with respect and love, we improve our relationship with those we serve and with our Lord, our Savior, our Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

I believe we can grow closer to those we serve by remembering that as we serve our fellow beings, we are also serving our Heavenly Father. Let us be found in service of others.
