Who should we elect?

I believe we each have a responsibility to participate in choosing those who lead and represent us at all levels of government. This means that we need to seek out, vote for, and uphold leaders who are honest, good, and wise. Then, hold them accountable for how they perform their commitment to us.

Who should we elect this election? This is the question everyone of us must answer. No matter who we are, this choice requires us to consider the consequences of our choice, whether it is for the good of the nation, state, or local community or not.

So, how do we make these important and nearly impossible choices? Some may decide on voting for what they consider to be the lesser of  several evils. Others may go with their emotions, but still, others will vote for whom their friends and family are voting for.

Some even vote for the one leading in the polls, or just vote along the party line. Would these be the correct choices? Or do we vote for the one mainstream media or social media is currently pushing? I believe the choice is ours, individually, no matter what the opposing sides say while trying to persuade us to vote for their agenda.

One thing I’ve learned throughout my life is that my choices, no matter my intent, have consequences, which is that they affect others, for either good or bad.

With such an important task ahead of us, the changing of our society for the good or the bad, there is only one way I’ve come to realize to choose who to vote for. Let’s get the normal answers out of the way.
1. Study the candidates’ positions  the   issues,   not just your favorite issues.
2. Look at changes in stated positions and the reasons why the candidate changed.
3. If the candidate has a previous or current record,  study the effect their policies have had upon our society.
4. Look at how your life and those around you have been affected by their policies and actions.
5. If the mainstream media is supporting or not supporting a candidate, ask what is the mainstream media or social media agenda is and why they are for or against each candidate?

After doing these five actions, I asked myself if my choice has changed or not. Then, I find it necessary to take my choice to the Lord in prayer to get a confirmation that I have chosen the correct candidate.

My vote is occasionally overwhelmed by others voting for the opposing side. Due to the promises made, then not kept. But I keep hoping and praying we will choose the right individuals for the offices we are voting for.

Until then I keep myself informed, and keep hoping that those we elect will fulfill the oath of their office, to protect the Constitution, enforce the laws of this land, protect our borders, strengthen our defenses, and ensure the free trade between the states, create laws that will enhance our freedoms rather than restricting them.

I encourage everyone to vote this year. However, only after removing emotions, other people opinions, what the mainstream media and social media say, then take your choice to the Lord, and see if you feel the same about your inital choices, if not, be courageous to vote for your new choice.
